New Weekly Cycling Show to Debut on TNT Sports and HBO Max

Instructions

A fresh series dedicated to the world of cycling, titled 'The Cycling Show,' is slated to launch soon, providing an in-depth look at professional cycling. This program aims to take viewers behind the scenes of both men’s and women’s professional teams, offering insights into athlete performance, dietary practices, and technical gear through candid interviews with team personnel and riders. The show will consist of ten half-hour episodes, promising a comprehensive exploration of the sport's intricacies.

New Cycling Program Reveals Team Secrets

The inaugural episode of 'The Cycling Show' is scheduled to air on TNT Sports and stream on HBO Max on Tuesday, March 31, at 7:30 PM UK time. This premiere will shine a spotlight on UCI ProTeam Tudor Pro Cycling, an organization established in 2022 by cycling legend Fabian Cancellara, a three-time champion of both the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix.

Following this, the second episode, airing on April 7 at 7:00 PM, will feature SD Worx-Protime. The third episode, on April 14, also at 7:00 PM, will focus on Decathlon CMA CGM. Details regarding the other teams to be featured in the series are yet to be disclosed. The series is set to continue until the commencement of the Tour de France in July, with a brief hiatus in May coinciding with the Giro d’Italia and the Roland Garros tennis tournament.

'The Cycling Show' distinguishes itself from 'The Ultimate Cycling Show,' a previous magazine-style program produced by Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD). Unlike its predecessor, which was hosted by Orla Chennaoui and Adam Blythe and available free-to-air, this new iteration will feature an off-screen narrator and be exclusively broadcast on WBD’s subscription-based platforms, TNT Sports and HBO Max, in the UK and Ireland. European audiences can access the show via Eurosport.

This launch follows WBD’s recent consolidation of its streaming services, with Discovery+ in the UK and Ireland merging into HBO Max. This move marks another shift in the cycling broadcast landscape, which has seen three changes in streaming platforms over the past three years. While live, ad-free cycling was once available for a monthly fee of £6.99 on Discovery+, it now falls under a more comprehensive £30.99 monthly package. New subscribers to HBO Max can currently avail of a 12-month saver plan at £25.99 per month, a reduction of £5 from the standard rate, though this still represents a significant increase compared to previous pricing for dedicated cycling coverage.

The continuous evolution of sports broadcasting, particularly in niche areas like professional cycling, highlights a broader trend in media consumption. While platforms strive to offer diverse content, the shifting landscape often presents challenges for dedicated fans who must adapt to new services and pricing structures. This move by WBD reflects an effort to centralize content and potentially streamline their offerings, but it also raises questions about accessibility and affordability for a passionate, yet specialized, audience.
